Afrika i afrikanska medier

APPA-WEBCAST LAUNCHING
The President of the Association of the Panafrican Press (APPA in french), Mr. Louis KEUMAYOU, announced on Wednesday in Paris (France) the launching of a new free service intended for african journalists and called “APPA-WEBCAST”.
“APPA-WEBCAST is a service which allows the African journalists with a computer and an internet connection to take part virtually in the media cover of an event taking place in another part of the world. This new service managed by the Association of the Panafrican Press uses VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) technology and simply requires the remote loading of a free software. ”, the President of APPA’s special adviser, Nicolas POMPIGNE-MOGNARD said that a technical help would be ensured by APPA.
The Association of the Panafrican Press takes part regularly in the media cover of international events. Acting as a news service journalist, the representative of APPA then carries out interviews and photographs. This information is then disseminated “free of right”, without copyright, on the whole APPA’S network. The 2.600 subscribers to APPA’S general mailing list , can then reproduce this information free, in their own media and thus take part, where ever they are, to the media cover of the event.
From now on, when a press conference is held in the presence of APPA-WEBCAST, the journalists using this service will receive an advertisement inviting them to connect themselves to an audio wire and take part virtually, on line, to this press event, without any other cost than their usual internet connection.
This technology makes it possible for dozens of journalists to be simultaneously connected.
“This new free service, which will be added to the general mailing list of APPA and to the mailing list of economic information “APPA-ECO”, is exclusively reserved to journalists”, added Nicolas POMPIGNE-MOGNARD, specifying that APPA-WEBCAST service will be operational during the Annual Assembly of the African Bank of Development which will be held in Shanghai (China) the 16 and 17 May 2007.

For the President of APPA, Louis KEUMAYOU, “this new service will consolidate the engagement of the Association of the Panafrican Press in favour of the communication for development. APPA-WEBCAST will make it possible for APPA to contribute more efficiently to the communication strategy of the various actors of the development of the African continent. The institutions, organizations, associations and personalities can rely on APPA-WEBCAST to allow the African journalists who cannot leave the continent to take part in the media cover of their event”.

26 % of the foreign media recorded in France near the Reception Center of the Foreign Press (CAPE) have an african origin. These media are gathered in Panafrican Press Association (APPA). The Panafrican Press Association, which is member of the Board of Direction of the Reception Center of the Foreign Press, manages a file of more than 5000 contacts, particularly a mailing list with 2 500 subscribers, among which a large part of african media from French, English and Portuguese speaking countries. And also journalists from western countries based media with an african section.
